As momentum builds for this year's Lang Toun Lights celebration, organisers are inviting local community groups, charities, clubs, performers and organisations to play an active part in the day and showcase what they do to thousands of visitors expected in Kirkcaldy town centre on November 28th for the Christmas Lights Switch on.
Building on the success of previous years, Lang Toun Lights will bring festive cheer to the High Street with live entertainment, family activities, fairground rides and the much-anticipated arrival of Santa by sleigh.
A dedicated performance stage will provide opportunities for local singers, dancers, musicians, and groups to entertain crowds throughout the day curated by Contrived Cabaret
Organisations will also have the chance to engage directly with local residents through information stalls, activities and displays. Space is available both on the High Street and at selected indoor venues, with organisers encouraging groups of all sizes to register their interest and explore how they can be involved.
Ryan Strachan, Love Oor Lang Toun, said:
"Lang Toun Lights is all about bringing the community together and celebrating everything that makes Kirkcaldy special. As well as a fantastic day out for families, it's a great opportunity for local groups and organisations to showcase their work, meet new people and strengthen their connections within the community.
"Whether you're a charity looking to raise awareness, a community group seeking new members, or an organisation wanting to engage with local residents, we'd love to hear from you."
Organisers are particularly keen to hear from:
- Community and voluntary groups
- Charities and social enterprises
- Youth organisations
- Arts, culture and heritage organisations
- Local public sector services
- Health and wellbeing organisations
The event forms part of a wider programme of festive activities designed to support the town centre, encourage community participation and create a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.
Expressions of interest are now being accepted from organisations wishing to take part.
Interested groups should email ryan@loveoorlangtoun.com with details of their organisation, preferred activity and any space requirements.
