'Must Be Crackers' expands to Kirkcaldy High Street

A successful Dunfermline deli is set to bring its range of artisan food and specialist cheeses to Kirkcaldy, as Must Be Crackers prepares to open a second location on the town’s High Street this December.

Founded by local entrepreneur Aileen Wright, Must Be Crackers first opened in Dunfermline in 2023 and has quickly built a loyal customer base by offering fresh-cut cheeses, artisan bread, locally roasted coffee, speciality teas and premium Scottish produce.

“I also own a wool and fabric shop just two doors down from Must be Crackers! called Sew Yarn Crafty & Studio which I've had for ten years now, and I knew from speaking to customers there that they wanted more from the High Street. “They were saying 'If I'm here for one reason, give me another reason to stay'.”

Reflecting on the business’s rapid growth, Aileen also said,

“I was blown away by the enthusiasm of customers for something that, as a consumer, I wanted. There was nothing like it in Dunfermline without getting in a car and driving elsewhere.”

The new store will occupy the former Puddledub Butchers premises and is expected to open in time for the festive trading period. She said,

“We are bringing an awesome little farm shop into the centre of town, with fresh cut cheese, fresh bread, locally roasted coffee, locally blended tea and all the finest produce we can find from around Scotland, with British and Irish produce and continental cheeses.”

A client of Business Gateway Fife, Aileen has received support from business adviser Karen Cassells, including a Start-Up grant for Marketing funded by the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund for the original location and Workforce Upskilling support. She is also receiving support from the Fife Council Town Centre Development Team.

Karen said,

“Aileen’s passion, determination and commitment to creating high-quality shopping experiences have driven the success of Must Be Crackers. It’s fantastic to see the business growing into Kirkcaldy, creating new opportunities while supporting local producers and contributing to the regeneration of our town centres.”

The expansion comes as Must Be Crackers completes its third year of trading, marking another significant milestone for the thriving Fife business.
