K107FM has once again been recognised on the national stage, receiving Silver in the ‘Celebrating & Championing Community Radio of the Year’ category at the 2026 Community Radio Awards.
The award was presented in Birmingham as part of the annual Community Radio Awards, recognising excellence in community broadcasting from across the United Kingdom.
The recognition marks K107FM's seventh consecutive year of success at the Community Radio Awards, underlining the station's continued commitment to giving local voices time to be heard, supporting community participation and reflecting the people, groups and organisations that make Fife unique.
Rooted in Kirkcaldy and connected to communities across the area, K107FM provides local information, music, and community programming created by volunteers. The station offers opportunities for people of all backgrounds and experience levels to get involved in broadcasting while helping local organisations share their stories with audiences across the region.
Rebecca Steers, Chair of the Community Radio Awards, said:
"This recognition reflects the important role community radio stations play in supporting and connecting their local communities."
Jayne Smith, Chair of K107FM, said:
"We are delighted to receive national recognition for a seventh consecutive year. To be acknowledged alongside so many outstanding community broadcasters from across the UK is a tremendous achievement for everyone involved with K107FM.Congratulations to all of this year's winners and finalists, particularly our fellow Scottish stations whose achievements demonstrate the strength, diversity and impact of community radio across Scotland.
K107FM is at the heart of Fife. This recognition belongs to our volunteers, presenters, supporters and community partners who help us provide opportunities for local people to tell their stories, discover what is happening nearby and take an active role in community radio."
The winning submission focused on K107FM's Local Radio Day 2026 programming. Inspired by the "Showcase and Shine" theme, the station used the day to demonstrate the kind of community broadcasting it delivers year-round.
Hosted live by Jayne Smith and Alex Airnes, the schedule featured back-to-back interviews with local MSPs, charities, community groups, event organisers and businesses, all of whom had previously featured on K107FM. Guests discussed local issues, the value of local radio and the role K107FM plays in community life.
Rather than creating content solely for the occasion, the programme showcased the relationships, trust and local stories built through years of community broadcasting.
National recognition has become a consistent feature of K107FM's work, with the station continuing to earn industry acknowledgement for its commitment to community broadcasting, local engagement and creating opportunities for people and organisations across Fife.
