Fresh thinking on skills to help Fife businesses recruit and grow

Businesses across Fife are being encouraged to explore fresh approaches to recruitment and workforce development at a special event taking place during Fife Business Week 2026.

Building Tomorrow's Workforce Today will bring together Fife's education, employability and economic development partners on Thursday 5 November at Dunfermline Learning Campus, showcasing how collaboration can help employers develop the skills they need to grow and succeed.

Delivered in partnership by Fife Council Employability, Fife College and InvestFife, the event will highlight practical support available to employers, from apprenticeships and employability programmes to workforce planning and upskilling.

Attendees will hear from a range of speakers exploring how businesses can access new talent, develop existing employees and respond to changing workforce needs. The programme will also feature an employer case study and panel discussion, giving businesses the opportunity to hear real experiences, ask questions and explore practical solutions to their workforce challenges.

Iain Hawker, Assistant Principal: Enterprise & Partnerships, Fife College, said:

"Working closely with local employers is essential to ensuring our courses and training programmes support people to develop the skills Fife businesses need. From new apprenticeships to upskilling existing employees, we're committed to helping businesses build a skilled workforce that supports their future growth."

Kirsty Haydock, Fife Council, said:

"Recruitment and skills challenges are not new, but finding the right solutions requires us to think differently. By working together, we can help Fife businesses access new talent, develop their workforce and create meaningful employment opportunities for local people. This event is about showing employers the practical support available and how they can benefit."

Dot Smith, Business & Enterprise Development Manager, Economic Development, Fife Council, said:

"A skilled workforce is fundamental to a strong local economy. By connecting businesses with education and employability partners, we can help employers address recruitment challenges, unlock opportunities for growth and strengthen Fife's economy."

Taking place as part of Fife Business Week 2026, the session is open to businesses of all sizes and sectors and aims to encourage more employers to take advantage of the skills and employability support available across Fife.

Building Tomorrow's Workforce Today takes place on Thursday 5 November 2026, from 2pm, at Dunfermline Learning Campus.
