Fife Sports and Leisure Trust is offering people across Fife the opportunity to gain a fully funded National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and take their first step towards a rewarding career in the leisure industry.
The initiative will provide successful applicants with nationally recognised lifeguard training at no cost, alongside the opportunity to secure employment with Fife Sports and Leisure Trust following successful completion of the qualification. A range of employment contracts will be available, from part-time to full-time, and temporary to permanent, offering opportunities for people looking to start or develop a career in leisure.
Anyone interested must first apply to attend an assessment centre at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre on Wednesday 11th November 2026, from 8am to 12 noon. The assessment centre will give applicants the chance to meet the Fife Sports and Leisure Trust team, demonstrate their swimming ability against the NPLQ entry standards, find out more about the qualification and employment opportunities, and ask any questions.
Successful applicants will then be invited to attend the fully funded NPLQ course, running from Monday 7th December to Friday 11th December 2026, 8am to 5pm each day.
Applicants must be aged 16 or over, confident and competent swimmers, and available to attend both the assessment centre and the full training course. They must also be available to take up an employment contract with Fife Sports and Leisure Trust after successfully completing the qualification and be flexible to work a range of rotating shifts, including days, evenings and weekends. Full details of the eligibility and swimming assessment requirements can be found at www.fifeleisure.org.uk.
Karen Marsh, HR Manager at Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for people across Fife to gain a nationally recognised qualification at no cost and take their first step towards a career with Fife Sports and Leisure Trust. We’re looking forward to welcoming new talent into our team.”
The closing date for applications is Friday 6th November 2026, with successful applicants being notified on Monday 9th November 2026.
To apply, candidates should send their CV and a supporting statement to Recruitment@fifeleisure.org.uk. Only applicants who meet all the essential criteria will be considered.
