Fife Business Week workshops set to help independent retailers Reset, Refresh and Grow

As part of Fife Business Week, Invest Fife and Business Gateway Fife are inviting independent retailers and town centre businesses to take part in two practical workshops designed to help businesses refresh their approach, build resilience and unlock new opportunities for growth.

Independent businesses are the heart of Fife’s town centres, bringing character, creativity and local pride to communities across the region. However, challenging trading conditions, changing customer habits and increased competition mean many retailers are looking for new ways to attract customers, increase sales and plan confidently for the future.

As part of Fife Business Week, Invest Fife and Business Gateway Fife are inviting independent retailers and town centre businesses to take part in two practical workshops designed to help businesses refresh their approach, build resilience and unlock new opportunities for growth.

The Strategic Reset for Independent Businesses workshop will be led by Fife Council's Town Centre Development Team and respected retail business consultant Kimberley Guthrie and offers business owners the opportunity to step back, review their current position and develop a clear action plan for the months ahead. Through interactive discussions and collaborative learning, participants will explore realistic strategies to increase visibility, drive footfall and strengthen customer engagement. The session will also provide valuable networking opportunities, helping businesses build partnerships and identify opportunities for cross-promotion within their local communities.

For businesses looking to enhance their customer experience, the Visual Merchandising Workshop provides practical advice on creating eye-catching displays that encourage customers to step through the door and make purchases. Delivered by retail design consultant Lynda Murray from International Visual, the workshop will cover the key principles of effective visual merchandising and demonstrate how businesses can maximise their retail space to showcase products more effectively. With experience ranging from independent retailers to her former role as Visual Director for House of Fraser, Lynda brings a wealth of expertise and practical insight.

Gemma Slight, Economic Adviser, Town Centre Development at Fife Council said,

"Independent retailers play a vital role in the success of our town centres. These workshops are designed to give businesses practical tools, fresh ideas and expert support to help them adapt, grow and thrive in today's challenging trading environment."
