Kirkcaldy's flagship community festival is set to be bigger than ever in 2027, with organisers confirming that Lang Toun Fest will expand to a six-week celebration running from 4 June to 18 July.
The extended format follows the continued growth and success of the festival, which has become one of the town's largest and most diverse community celebrations, bringing together local organisations, venues, artists, businesses and community groups in a shared showcase of everything that makes Kirkcaldy special.
The 2027 festival will build on that success by creating additional opportunities for participation, allowing more events to be included in the programme and extending into the opening weeks of the school summer holidays.
The expansion is expected to support a wider range of family activities, attract additional visitors to the town and provide greater opportunities for residents to engage with events throughout the summer.
A spokesperson for the Lang Toun Partners said:
"Lang Toun Fest has grown year on year thanks to the enthusiasm, creativity and dedication of the people and organisations who make it happen. What began as a celebration of Kirkcaldy's community spirit has developed into a major festival that showcases the talent, culture and energy that exists across the Lang Toun.
The move to a six-week programme reflects the increasing interest we are seeing from organisations wanting to take part, while also creating an opportunity to connect with families during the start of the school summer holidays. It will allow us to reach new audiences while continuing to celebrate the people, groups and venues that have helped establish the festival as a highlight of Kirkcaldy's cultural calendar."
The 2027 programme will continue to highlight the broad range of activities that are happening in town, but also encourage organisations and venue to put on new events.
Next year will also have a particular focus on four key themes:
Music
From live performances and community concerts to emerging artists and established acts, music will once again provide a major part of the festival programme.
Arts
Exhibitions, creative workshops, performances and cultural activities will showcase the depth of artistic talent across Kirkcaldy and Fife.
Family
The extension into July will create additional opportunities for family-friendly activities during the start of the school summer holidays, helping make the festival accessible to audiences of all ages.
Health and Wellbeing
Walking groups, outdoor activities, wellbeing sessions, yoga, community initiatives and events promoting healthy lifestyles will continue to play an important role throughout the festival.
Organisers believe the expanded programme will help strengthen Kirkcaldy's reputation as a vibrant destination for culture, creativity and community activity, while also supporting local organisations, venues and businesses.
The spokesperson added:
"One of the strengths of Lang Toun Fest has always been its ability to bring people together. Whether you're attending a concert, taking part in a community activity, visiting an exhibition or simply discovering something new in town, the festival provides opportunities to connect, celebrate and get involved.
By expanding to six weeks, we can create even more opportunities for people to experience what Kirkcaldy has to offer and build on the momentum that has been generated over recent years."
Further information on event submissions and participation opportunities will be announced in the coming weeks.
