A major £1.25 million investment by Fife Council has been completed with the opening of Fife Golf Trust's new state-of-the-art golf course maintenance depot at Glenrothes Golf Course.
The purpose-built facility has been designed to transform maintenance operations, equipment storage and operational deployment across the Trust's seven golf courses, helping staff work more efficiently while supporting the long-term sustainability of the facilities.
The new depot provides modern workshop facilities for the sharpening, servicing, repair and preparation of Fife Golf Trust's extensive fleet of course maintenance machinery. By bringing these functions together in a dedicated facility, valuable staff time can be focused on maintaining and presenting the Trust's golf courses to the highest possible standard.
The development also marks a significant step forward in the Trust's environmental ambitions. The building is fitted with solar panels and has been designed to accommodate Fife Golf Trust's new fleet of electric and hybrid maintenance machinery, with dedicated charging facilities supporting the move to cleaner and greener operations.
The investment is expected to deliver a 60 - 70% reduction in fuel consumption and associated carbon emissions, while also reducing servicing and maintenance costs. Improved facilities will enable machinery to be maintained and prepared more efficiently, helping maximise equipment availability and operational productivity.
Fife Golf Trust has established a multi-award-winning reputation for environmental sustainability, and the new depot represents a significant investment in the future resilience, efficiency and sustainability of golf facilities across Fife.
Councillor Linda Erskine, Fife Council's Spokesperson for Communities and Leisure, said: "This £1.25 million investment demonstrates our commitment to supporting high-quality golf facilities across Fife while helping deliver our environmental ambitions.
"Public golf courses play an important role in ensuring the game remains accessible and affordable for local people of all ages and abilities. By investing in the facilities and infrastructure that support our courses, we're helping protect these valued community assets and ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come."
Neil Crooks, Chairman of Fife Golf Trust's Board added: "The completion of this facility marks a significant milestone for Fife Golf Trust. It provides the infrastructure needed to support our teams across all seven courses, improves how we maintain and manage our equipment, and strengthens our ongoing commitment to sustainability.
"This investment will help us deliver long-term operational benefits while continuing to provide high-quality golf courses for the communities and visitors we serve."
The new facility is now fully operational and will support maintenance activities across all seven Fife Golf Trust courses.
