For those of you who listen to my Thursday evening shows will be well aware of my respect and love for Steve and his music. When you factor in his additional skills of bringing to an audience the music of a certain band he was for some years a member of. He takes those songs and albums of Genesis and, along with his fabulously talented band, expertly brings them to life for us to continue to enjoy.

So tonight it was the turn of the The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway celebrating the 50th anniversary of its release. To be honest never my favourite Genesis album there was, unlike say Foxtrot; time would not allow the entire double album to be played so tonight we got nine songs from that album.
First though in Set 1 Steve and his band, augmented on this tour by guitarist / vocals of Amanda Lehmann took us through nine tracks from his solo canon of work including three from his current album The Circus And The Nightwhale. Highlight for me was a blistering full-length version of Shadow Of The Hierophant where Amanda sang the vocals.
Set 2 was as previously talked about The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.
Set 3 contained some tasty Genesis gems with the encore, as expected the triple whammy of Firth Of Fifth, Drum Solo and Los Endos. Absolutely stunning stuff.
Yes I do look forward to the next two years tours, which will feature A Trick Of The Tail and Wind And Wuthering. Bring it on.
Steve Hackett guitar / vocals, Roger King keyboards, Rob Townsend sax, flute, keys, vocals and percussion, Nad Sylvan lead vocals, Craig Blundell drums, Jason Reingold bass, guitar, vocals, Amanda Lehmann guitar and vocals.
